Vocational Education

Specific training offered to people who are interested in a particular occupation is known as vocational training. It is occupation specific training. The vocational education includes training for different occupations which require bachelor’s degree or higher and which does not include professional occupations like medicine, law, engineering, teaching etc.

There are many Inventions and discoveries happening almost every day and this in turn creates new occupations and also introduction of new tools and methods to carry out those occupations. And training is also necessary to keep the employees or workers updated about the new methods and equipment’s that can be utilized in their area of work. The youth and unemployed people get trained for different jobs and also upgrade job skills. It also helps in inculcating good work habits and sound attitude which will be of a great help at the work place.

There are many different types of vocational education like training for jobs in farms , and maintaining farm equipment’s under agriculture education, home economics education for homemaking and other related occupations, Business education which includes distribution management, supply chain management , office education , trade and industrial education which trains people to be mechanics, printers, electricians, plumbers etc. Technical education programs cover training people for semi professional and technical occupations. The technical training will be generally for 1 to 3 years after finishing high school. Technical education is theoretical learning whereas the vocational training is more into practical training than theoretical education. Semi professional and technical occupations include X-ray and electronic technicians, data processors, Draftsman, cartographers, illustrators, production control supervisors, construction estimators, dental assistants and many more. The vocational education is offered through a variety of schools and other institutions aided by the federal government agencies. The federal government also provides funds for the state which it can utilize to start new programs or to sustain the existing programs.
