Although Japan is not part of the south east Asian countries, it is still vital to the education reforms taken in the south east Asian countries since many countries follow Japan as a model of a developed country. Japan has been at the forefront of innovation since the beginning of the 19th century. It has taken two rather opposing trends in the reform of education in Japan which should be of interest to the rest of the world aiming for an education reform of their own. The first reform when translated into English means as a Relaxed education reform and the second one known as Action Plan for Improving Academic Ability. The second reform is put into law with a concern about dwindling scientific and academic literacy in Japan.
Japan is in the process or revolutionizing the elementary education’s comprehensive guide. The laws were passed in 2011 but will be implemented by next year. Although this is a new education reform, it is still conserving some of the benefits of the reforms in education that were passed in 1990s and also in 2000s. These laws were passed in the Japanese Ministry of Education laws. A handbook known as the Gakushu Shido Yoryo is provided to every educational establishment to be followed as a guidance. It is a comprehensive guideline which directs the number of hours spend on each subject and the different subjects that need to be taught. The complaint that Japanese candidates lack interactivity and creativity has been tried to be fulfilled in this report. The problem was located to be the intense form of schooling which had to be made done with. This gives schooling a easy reform and help in reducing the stress on students. The aim is to inspire students to learn and impart a zest for learning so that the future generations have innovation and creativity in them.
